We’re starting with my story & the inspiration for beginning this project. So here’s how I quit my corporate 9 to 5 to become a full-time freelance writer.

My biggest fear is regret. 

I don’t want to look back and wish I had done life differently. I’d rather take the risk now instead of always wondering ‘What if?’

And that’s where my story begins. 

What is something you would change about your college experience?

I asked several people this question. Every single one had the same answer. 

“I wish I had studied abroad.”

I was determined to not have the same regret. But I was in college during the pandemic. 

We all know how that turned out. 

College to corporate pipeline

Following the traditional path, I graduated college and got a corporate 9 to 5. 

My desire to experience the world left me feeling unsettled. The eat, sleep, work, repeat cycle wasn’t cutting it.

I knew there was more I could do with my time, but I didn't know how to begin. 

I took a chance on a dream

After months of searching and dreaming, I found a volunteer opportunity as a community manager for a coliving home in Medellin, Colombia.

In exchange for free accommodation, I support guests throughout their stay.

I’m now at the end of month three in Medellin, and this experience has been more incredible than I ever imagined.

My biggest hope was to find like-minded people with the same passion for work and travel.

I found them on day one and discovered so much more.

I even got to share this beautiful place with my parents — so many special moments & more to come.

Colombia forever has a piece of my heart.

But wait, what about your corporate job?

As a result of taking the volunteer opportunity, I resigned from my corporate position and transitioned to a full-time freelance writer. 

I’m now two months into my freelance journey. It’s been an amazing experience with many learning opportunities ✨.

What does Unsettled mean?

To me, it’s knowing there’s more you can do, but not knowing how to make it happen. 

More to pursue your passions, more to enjoy life, and more to support and encourage others. 

I loved my corporate job and my team, but I want to experience the world in a different way. 

Freelance is a perfect fit to learn what I love doing and what I don’t. 

While working from anywhere.

I took a leap of faith & you can too. 

Pursuing your dreams is scary. So many unknowns. 

But living your dreams is worth every second. 

Experiencing your fear turn to victory is one of the best feelings.
