Turn reflection into direction

Are you still thinking about making a life change? Apply the four phases to navigate your journey with confidence.

Last week was all about how to embrace change to pursue your dream life.

This week, we’re breaking down the steps into questions.

Use these questions to reflect on the change you want to make.

And maybe even get out of the egg phase.

Phase 1: Egg – Dreaming & reflecting

If you’re contemplating a significant life change, you’re in the egg phase.

In this phase, you have hope, but you also have fear about the unknown

Here are some examples of change:

  • Changing jobs

  • Moving locations

  • Making new friends

  • Getting a degree

  • Starting a business

  • Pursuing a new hobby

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What are my core values and beliefs? Does this change align?

  • What positive impact will the change make to my life?

  • What negative impacts?

  • What is holding me back from making the change now?

  • What support do I need to make the change?

Phase 2: Caterpillar - Starting the journey

If you’ve decided to make the change, you’re in the caterpillar phase.

You are focused and figuring out.

Questions to reflect:

  • What specific goals can I set to move forward?

  • How can I stay motivated and focused?

  • What keeps me going when I feel like giving up?

  • Is there someone holding me accountable to achieve my goals?

Phase 3: Chrysalis - Embrace challenges & celebrate wins

If you are actively pursuing change, you are in the chrysalis phase.

Questions to reflect:

  • What progress have I made so far?

  • How can I adapt my goals and plans to better achieve my change?

  • What challenges have I encountered, and how have I overcome them?

  • What lessons have I learned so far?

Phase 4: Butterfly - Growth & new beginnings

If you have taken your leap of faith and learning as you grow, you’re in the butterfly phase.

Questions to reflect:

  • Who has supported me on this journey, and how can I show gratitude?

  • What new opportunities are now available to me?

  • How can I use my experience to help and inspire others?

What’s the timeline?

Everyone is on their own journey with unique goals & routes to get there.

Here’s the timeline for my journey as a reference:

  • Phase 1: About 2.5 years

  • Phase 2: 5 months

  • Phase 3: 3-4 months

  • Phase 4: Still here :)

Pro Tip:

Copy & paste the questions onto a doc and type out your answers or use them as prompts for journaling.

No matter what phase you’re in, reflection helps define your direction.

If you wanna see an example of what the phases look like, respond to this email and let me know.

Or if you have other feedback, send it over!

See ya next week,
